The gross domestic product (GDP) fell by 0.1% in the third quarter of 2023 compared with the second quarter of 2023 after adjustment for price, seasonal and calendar variations. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the result published in the first release of 30 October 2023 has therefore been confirmed. “After the weak economic development seen in the first half of 2023, the German economy began the second half of the year with a slight drop in performance,” says Ruth Brand, President of the Federal Statistical Office.
