I first met Morgan when we were both at the U.S. Treasury Department during the 2008 Global Financial Crisis. I had been at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for several years overseeing several of the largest nonbank financial institutions at the time: Bear Stearns, Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, and Morgan Stanley.
