The number of durable goods orders in the United States went up by 0.7% or $1.9 billion in April, landing at $284.1 billion, a report published by the United States Census Bureau on Friday showed. Transportation equipment led the upbeat trend, jumping 1.2% or $1.1 billion in comparison to the previous month, coming in at $96.2 billion. Excluding transportation, new orders grew 0.4% in the reported month. In addition, shipments of manufactured durable goods increased by 1.2% or $3.4 billion from the month before to stand at $285.7 billion.
