I have an entry at 1.2750, which is the bottom of the current range the pair is stuck in. If it breaks below 2750, then further downside is probably exposed. The eur/jpy crashed today which I think contributed heavily to the pair's fall. However, in ...

i agree, NFP didnt disappoint, niether did ISM. though 1.3000 may be imminent, its gonna be a while. the dollar fundamentally still has some strength, and while trichet and ECB are on the euro's side, there still have not been clear signs that a ...

its possible that trichet strikes a move dovish tone which would send the pair down to 2740-50 where there is probably decent bid interest

Less hawkish than expected FOMC; 2440 is now out of the question. 2750 is holding up as supported.. picked up 50 pips with an entry there. Consumer confidence was also worse than expected. Heavy resistance around 2830-50, but if Trichet is hawkish, ...

lol that happened to me once too.... what can i say. rotten luck. just occured to me that you could possibly attribute the movement to a return of volatility... its been pretty dry recently. today: eur/usd - 120 pts, gbp/usd - 200 pts, usd/chf - 160 ...

well you also have to remember (i think), that a currency's value is not purely determined by a central bank's interest rates or the T-note yield... it also represents the interest and faith investors have in the country. for example if the US ...
World stock markets, Forex, and a crash?

USD/CAD is not a very liquid pair, neither are any of the other CAD crosses (to the extent of my knowledge). that in mind, i'd say dont expect more than 10 pips unless there is a significant deviation.

- rr112 replied Aug 8, 2006
Excellent point. My strategy for FOMC like sammymu said is going to go both ways. If spot price at 2:14 EST is 1.2835; long entry at ~2860, stop ~2835, open limit ; short entry at ~2810, stop ~2830, open limit.

also might be interesting to note that there is a double (maybe triple... too lazy to check) top at ~ 2770, if we see a sustained break from there the pair might be history
