A lot of detail of the Italian government-forming (and president-choosing) process, but it's all about the opening paragraph and the last line:
Italy could do with market pressure

Nice one. FXBriefs - round yer ankles.
Talk of a German downgrade doing the rounds
- Plofkip commented Apr 17, 2013
Interesting article. I lean towards the belief that naked SCDSs are "not a good thing" (I like the analogy of taking out fire insurance on a house you don't own), but I suspect that the market will develop a work-round. Banning stuff is seldom ...
"Naked" CDS ban and euro zone calm
- Plofkip commented Apr 15, 2013
This is a misleading headline. The comment about not wanting to help failing banks is not at all the main thrust of Draghi's speech, nor is it the hidden message between the lines. fxbriefs.com just banged something out quickly to catch eyeballs. ...
Draghi: ECB doesn’t want to help banks that are failing

Yeah, a lot of these "breaking" one-liners here are misleading. I don't know why the FF news editors select them.
OECD: Slovenia faces ‘severe’ banking crisis in recession

I hope not (I hope that our German friend is right), but these things do tend to develop the momentum of self-fulfilling prophesies.
OECD: Slovenia faces ‘severe’ banking crisis in recession

The statement that the country "didn't ask for a bail out and officials keep confirming they will not ask", has applied in the past to every country which now has a bailout. "-)

Interesting article. Thx. He doesn't mention the relative weights he gives to the proxies he has chosen for the different aspects of crisis vulnerability. The weight applied to size-of-the-financial-sector might need to be 0,99. PK

My God! I'm a Euro bull. I'm sure it will recover and survive, but I would NEVER lend the Spanish government money for a 2% return. Who in God's name is risking their clients' money for this kind of return ... in Spain? Am I missing something? I ...

Bravo! It the offshore tax-dodge industry were to be dismanted, it would fill up a few public finance deficits pronto AND allow the grasping b@st@rds at our finance ministries to introduce more reasonable rates of income tax.

This thread, from the headline on down, is a good lesson in why one should not read (let alone act on) most of what's written on forums. Thx to the couple of people who have put the record straight. What angelic patience you have. PK

The UK's Daily Telegraph is not a reliable source of information or analysis of anything which concerns "the continent", with the possible exception of France's chances of winning rugby's Six Nations championship.
Slovenia 'will not be next Cyprus'
- Plofkip commented Apr 1, 2013
Good article. Dijsselbloem also recently nationalised the ailing Dutch bank SNS-Reaal, wiping out holders of equity and (subordinated) debt. Depositors were not touched. That seems to be a good principle to me. If I lend money to a business or ...
