ct/div + pin, got out for loss
- dhh replied Oct 11, 2009
yes, what you quoted is a 3rd setup for range market. but in your original post you indicated "pin #1 - perfect setup . With the trend + div" i was just trying to point out it was not a trend trade. no harm.

tom, i see div now don't usually zoom in that much. thanks.

just looking at the pin bars(not analysing the trades), i try to be picky and DEG looks good to me. the others don't look good because of the nose/body/or the close.

david, just my comments on pin #1: the market was going sideways at the time, so it's not a trend trade. notice the pin was above midBB and 21ema.

ryan, can i assume this was a sup/res trade you saw?(as pipsulike pointed out, there was no div). just want to confirm. thanks.
- dhh replied Oct 9, 2009
it didn't close as pin on my chart, but looks good to me on your chart.
- dhh replied Oct 8, 2009
yes, and yes. i beginning to see this more as i trade more.
- dhh replied Oct 7, 2009
jankone, no offense. i see the downtrend you referring to. but i took this as a 'bb flat/range' trade. i guess different eyes see different things.

this has happened to me once before, as i remember it wasn't even NFP. didn't really understand their explanation, but so far oanda's advanatages still out weights disadvantage to me. i guess no perfect broker.

i personally don't see pin(or other PA) on the chart, but nice ct/div. not sure what you mean by 'rsi pop out' question on the chart, pls clarify.

thanks for sharing this Cyrus. the 2nd file(darkstar) shows only 1 post, and i downloaded multiple times to make sure i get the complete file. anyone else have the same problem?

hidden pin means the pin is hidden or buried in the traffic prior to it. take a look at the chart, notice how the 3rd pin is hidden in the price covered by the huge bar before it. the good pins need to be sticking out from the traffic before it like ...

i agree(on the concept level). i had a post on this not long ago on the J16 thread. i speak from personal experience and only try to get out a few messages: 1. it's good idea to learn each method well before mixing 2. while J16 and ryan's can work ...

just a little suggestion. you may want to mark the bar you trade on the charts, sometimes it's difficult to guess which one. i see you combine J16 and ryan's. good luck. (i'm trying not to before i learn each of them well, was burned before mixing ...

i was watching it too, but there is no div. no trade for me today. good thing it worked for you even you saw a less than perfect setup.
- dhh replied Sep 29, 2009
top of range + pin(nose could be better). stopped out for loss.
- dhh replied Sep 24, 2009
it helps avoide some lossing trades(together with some possible winning trades, as you will notice). but it makes sense to me, since neither of them happens overwhelmingly more frequent than the other, and missing winning trades is ok with the focus ...

thanks supreme. i don't see any change, not sure what you meant.
