Disliked{quote} Most all residential construction in our area is stick built. Tremendous advances in structural lumber in the last 30 so years. We use SYP (southern yellow pine), wood I beams or open web trusses for floor systems, depending on the span and type of utilities placed in it. Spruce for studs and rafters. The beams you see are stronger than steel weight wise and have no "bounce" in them like a steel flitch plates have. Huge advances in the sheathing we use. Almost no reaction to water. The roof sheathing is foil backed and is much "cooler" than...Ignored
