Disliked{quote} @Robot Trader -- you didn't answer my question -- are we still friends? Regarding the flat section -- there is a way to analyze. Why does it have to be a bug? The Strategy Tester chart has no time frame -- the x-axis is trade number. To understand what is happening you would have to take the timestamps of those trades that contribute to the flat line and go back to the real price data and see what was happening. It is painstaking work -- but that is the proper way to analyze the data. Otherwise you're just speculating. {quote} That doesn't...Ignored
Disliked{quote} Hi R4M, I did post an earlier chart https://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?p=12395685#post12395685 which shows some of the trades during this Flat Line period. The back test I started yesterday on the M30 is still running, this is a 1 1/2 year BT on one currency pair, so I see now why you don't BT your EA's with tick data, this is the slowest BT I have ever done for just one TF and one currency pair. I am up to October 2018, so still another 10 months to go, but I see another Flat Line on the graph where trades are opening...Ignored
QuoteDislikedI will up load the full results with my settings and then I will do another BT just using the OHLC to compare the difference and to see if using Tick Data is picking up the Flat Line whereas OHLC doesn't.
Disliked{quote} @Robot Trader -- thanks for uploading the tick BT results. I have no idea what causes the flat-lining -- whether that really is the algorithm doing its thing or an artifact of Strategy Tester. It could be during a data horizon when market conditions are such that reversal strategies would fail but the BD strategy's emergency exit saves the day and it simply comes out even. I don't know. {quote} Yes -- I'm really interested to see how this comes out. I've rarely seen anyone compare (and share) tick versus OHLC back testing results.Ignored
Disliked{quote} Hi R4M, I have just released that I can scroll back to 2017 with the indicator loaded on my demo account, this might be because of the amount of history I have stored within my MT4 platform. So when the BT finishes, I should be able to plot the trades on my demo account and see what the EA was doing, so can you please remind me how the BD emergency exit works, to allow me to see if that was what was happening with these trades. There were quite a few of them in succession to cause the Flat Line, so it is strange how the market would continue...Ignored
QuoteDislikedso it is strange how the market would continue to cause this type of trade time and time again
Disliked{quote} @Robot Trader -- the emergency exit is a very simple "fail-safe" close. If you currently have one or more BUY trades open and receive a SELL signal, then all the BUY trades are closed before the SELL is opened. That's all. {quote} Keep in mind that equity curve has no 4th-dimension -- i.e. no time. So, there may not be any "market" involved. It could be that a big spike or a gap that lasted only a moment or two caused a bunch of Entry signals. You would need to look at the timestamps of the flat line trades and match them with the price...Ignored
Disliked{quote} Just got back from taking the dogs a walk around the Dam https://www.aussiebushwalking.com/qld/sunshine-coast/ewen-maddock-dam-trail-1 I have told them that they can't go to the beach very day "@Robot Trader -- the emergency exit is a very simple "fail-safe" close. If you currently have one or more BUY trades open and receive a SELL signal, then all the BUY trades are closed before the SELL is opened. That's all." OK if that's how it works then no the bands are far too far apart for that to explain the Flat Line, plus...Ignored

QuoteDislikedI think they closed based on the Fail-Safe parameter because trades opened straightaway in the opposite direction and made money.
DislikedI took special note of R4M's wishes for: 1) A signal 2) A filter 3) An exit After many years of thinking this way I abandoned the idea of the filter. I could not find one. I realised that if the filter was accurate it would replace the signal and thus become the holy grail signal in its self. I also realised that the exit needs to float with the changes in price. Thus the way I ended up trading was what I think you may call the basket trading method? Where you would open multiple lots and label them as a single trade. Some may lose but overall you...Ignored

Disliked@R4M In the indicator "R4M-BD-ADR" the default recommended TF is 10080 (7*1440=10080) but in a week we have just 5 trading day (5*1440=7200) so Why are you using 10080 instead of 7200??? ThanksIgnored
