Perhaps in time other more advanced platforms can be linked such as Ninja Trader NT8, Sierra and Optuma.
I use Interactive Broker's for much of my private trading since they cater more for the professional traders with data subscriptions from multiple exchanges and more than 15000 trading instruments to cater for an almost infinite number of trading strategies.
Unfortunately their charting software is poor but it is a simple matter to use an NT8 to IB bridge or an MT5 to IB bridge or other bridge for technical analysis and then send the orders to the Interactive Brokers server.
Ultimately, what the FTMO guys need is a system with the capacity to efficiently collect and manage orders and other data from multiple platforms but this is both complex and complicated not to mention very costly to manage and maintain.
I very much doubt this will ever occur because it's far simpler and cheaper to simply offer only a few common platforms to keep the majority of traders happy.
Once MT4 finally dies out and it will, they are likely to have MT5 and cTrader in action which will be good enough for the time being.
For other traders such as myself that prefer other platforms for advanced analysis then it means doing the analysis on the platform of choice and then placing the orders manually on MT5 or cTrader.
For auto or semi-auto trading strategies then an mql5 or C# solution is required with a VPS and a quality trade copier is a welcome addition.
In any case if at least MT5 is added and more broker choices then this would be a step in the right direction.
Good trading,
