DislikedHey guys look at this account statement, this is an Real Investment Company account statement performance. I guess they are using firebird, but i have no idea which version and settings they are using.
Does any one can help to take a look of what they are using, because i think if we can get to know what they are using its gonna be great.
This is a real investment company that have thousands of retail investor, i think they manage around $100.000. I think they wont be stupid enough to open a company and their ea doesn't work well, so guys check it out!.Ignored

DislikedI have demo tested many variations of firebird as im sure many have, the only version that did well for me was the original 63G version, but watch the market and turn it off as soon as you think its trending otherwise you're gonna have a massive drawdown even if it doesnt wipe you out.

DislikedHello firebirders,
I had just finished to read some threads about firebird, here in forex factory and at forex-tsd, where many people from here also post messages and contribute for our EA.
I was working in firebird since 04/2006 alone (just with a friend of mine). A month ago we decided to look at the firebird community's work. We are very happy about so good work we found here. Congratulations people.
About the development of the EA and the tests done untill now we consider that there is a divergence compared with our work. Since fiorebird is conter-trend strategy, we think that is just possible to talk about trend in a 1 hour (60M) timeframe.
We have much more to share with the community, but let's by step-by-step. We would like to hear you about the timeframe divergence.
One last statemente: the post 1506 is simply amazing, but it was not commented by the community. We would like to ask you to consider that again.Ignored
DislikedWakena, skyline, MM, I'd like your opinions before I go ahead and program a TRAILING ENTRY into 63G TS. The idea is that birdy would set its original place for entry, start a trailing count from there, if price continues rising, it doesnt place an order, it doesnt place the order until price has stopped rising and retraced, a buffer of 5-8pips should work sufficiently from what i have seen so far. I hope I have gotten the idea across, the other good thing is that with divergence protection on, if price continued on its way up, divergence would stop a potential order in a trend onset.
1, Would this be a good idea in general?
2, What version of birdy would be suitable as a base?
3, Would you agree with the 5-8pip buffer?
Regards,
Sean.
Lets give this birdy wingspan.Ignored
DislikedThe last version that I coded is Firebird 3.2 and is attached. Other versions are located here.

I've found out the hard way that Firebird (any version) will lose money if not manually controlled when needed. FB is a reverse trend EA in that it waits till price reaches either upper band and enters sell order or lower band to enter buy order. The concept is that the price will eventually reverse to take profit. Before it reverses, PipStep orders will be placed while price continues to move up (Sell PipStep orders) or down (Buy PipStep orders). If the trend continues, the 300 pips Stoploss gives possibility of many PipStep orders. This can lead to high DrawDowns. You much decide if trend is worth staying in or manually close order/s for small lost. Also, in most instances, the price never reverses enough to close all orders in profit. So you much also decide when to close a long term open order.
This is experience only, no set rules. If you can learn when to stay in and when to get out, this EA can make profits as I have run 3.2 in profit for several months.
The hedge function places both Buy and Sell orders when PipStep order is called. I've found this improves profits, but will also have more occurrences where manually intervention is needed.
The MA_timeframe=15 and I have not changed this. On M5 chart selection, you will have more orders and higher DrawDowns. Lately I use M30 chart selection and it seems to slow down number of trades and reduced high DrawDowns. I think M30 predicts trends better.
The EquityProtection feature in 3.2 is not the best code. Setting the Float Percent correctly needs to be constantly changed in relation to Account Balance, and so, I don't use it.
